Georgia women's basketball projected to make NCAA Tournament

Both the Georgia Bulldogs women's and men's basketball teams are projected to make the NCAA Tournament

The Georgia Bulldogs women's basketball team is projected to make the NCAA Tournament, per ESPN's Bracketology. The Bulldogs are predicted to end up as a No. 7 seed in March Madness. In the projections, Georgia would face the No. 10 seed USC Trojans.

Georgia is 18-3 (4-3 SEC) this season and went undefeated in nonconference play. The Dawgs are holding their own in a very competitive SEC and have won three straight games after a 1-3 start to conference play. Georgia is now ranked as the No. 25 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

This past week, Georgia defeated Arkansas and No. 18 Kentucky to boost their NCAA Tournament hopes. Georgia's next game is at home in Stegeman Coliseum against No. 22 Alabama on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Dani Carnegie is Georgia's leading scorer. She is averaging 18.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She's shooting 46.9% from the field. The Bulldogs are off to their best start since the 2017-2018 season and have another ranked win over No. 17 Ole Miss.

ESPN projects both the Georgia men's and women's basketball teams to make the NCAA Tournament. Both teams have not made the NCAA Tournament in the same year since 2011. The last time both teams won March Madness games in the same season was 1996. The Georgia women's team last appeared in the NCAA Tournament was in 2023.
