Napoli and Roma are on the prowl for more offensive help and are examining new targets. Both are searching for a left winger. The Partenopei laid eyes on Alisson Santos and Martin Terrier, while the Giallorossi probed Yannick Carrasco.
According to Sky, the Scudetto holders are trying to sign the Brazilian speedster on an initial loan. Sporting CP have set a robust valuation, but they could let him go, having signed another man in the same role. He has recorded 2 goals and 2 assists in 29 games with them. The 23-year-old previously cut his teeth at Vitoria, Figueirense, and Leiria. Instead, the Bayer Leverkusen specialist has scored thrice in nine appearances this campaign.
Per Alfredo Pedullà, Napoli have been offered Terrier but aren’t particularly interested, while Roma face an uphill climb to add Carrasco, even though they do like him. They were rebuffed by West Ham for Crysencio Summerville during the weekend. Mathys Tel and Feyenoord’s Leo Sauer are challenging targets too.
The Giallorossi have tested the waters for Lorenzo Bernasconi, David Moller Wolfe, and Niccolò Fortini for the left-back role, but they all have lofty valuations. If they don’t find the right youngster, they’ll keep Kostas Tsimikas and revisit things down the line.
Our Take on Napoli and Roma
The Azzurri need another menacing attacker, as David Neres indeed had ankle surgery as rumored, but it’d be a big risk to give Antonio Conte a relatively unproven prospect, as he might just get buried on the bench. Perhaps they should be the ones pursuing Carrasco, but bringing players back from Saudi Arabia hasn’t been an easy feat this January. The capital club faces less pressure, as its additions would be more on the fringes.
