Alex Perez said his performance against Charles Johnson should be enough to secure a new deal, highlighting the significance of becoming the first fighter to stop Johnson as a clear statement to matchmakers.
Speaking on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Perez said his win over Johnson has given him a confidence about his next deal with the promotion.
“I feel confident. Obviously, the performance shows a lot. I’m going out there and finishing Charles. He’s tough, and he’s never been finished. I was the first one to do it. So, I think that made a statement.”
Alex Perez added that the UFC’s emphasis on decisive outcomes worked in his favor, particularly in divisions where activity and finishes are closely scrutinised.
