Texas football: These Longhorns will play in Super Bowl LX between Seahawks and Patriots

The Seattle Seahawks will play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. These former Texas Longhorns are set to take part.

At least three former Texas football players will suit up in the Super Bowl scheduled for Feb. 8 between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

The Longhorns have been represented in the Super Bowl 82 times leading into Super Bowl LX, including players who were on injured reserve or part of practice squads. Last season, Kansas City's Charles Omenihu and Xavier Worthy matched up with Philadelphia's Moro Ojomo to guarantee one Longhorn left with a championship ring.

Brenden Schooler will take the field with the Patriots, while Michael Dickson and Byron Murphy II will play for Seattle, which also has former Longhorn Quandre Diggs on its practice squad.

Dickson spent three years in Austin, twice leading the Big 12 in yards per punt. He received All-American recognition in 2017 before declaring for the NFL draft. The Australian is in his eighth season with the Seahawks and is averaging 49 yards per punt, pinning 38.5% of his punts inside the opposition's 20-yard line on his way to second-team All-Pro recognition from the Associated Press.

Murphy was the Big 12's defensive lineman of the year in 2023, helping lead the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff for the first time as a junior. He finished his three-year Texas career with 70 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and eight sacks. A first-round pick in the 2024 draft, he's broken out in 2025 with 62 tackles and seven sacks.

Schooler transferred to Texas after four seasons at Oregon. He began his career as a safety for the Ducks before switching to wide receiver. In his final year for the Longhorns, he switched back to defensive back, making 50 tackles and forcing a fumble. The Patriots added him as an undrafted free agent, and he's excelled as a special teams ace for the last four seasons.

As of Monday evening, Dickson, Murphy and the Seahawks were 4.5-point favorites to win the game.
