McCabe is tied for the best 3-point shooting percentage in Hawkeyes program history.
Iowa senior guard Taylor McCabe suffered a torn ACL in her left knee during Sunday's 91-70 win over Ohio State and will miss the rest of the season for the Hawkeyes, currently ranked No. 8 in the AP women's basketball poll.
McCabe, Iowa's fourth-leading scorer at 8.1 points per game, sustained the injury in the opening minute of Sunday's game while playing defense away from the ball. The ACL tear was confirmed on an MRI scan on Sunday night.
“This isn’t how I imagined my senior season ending, but adversity has always been part of the game,” McCabe said in a statement released by Iowa.
“I’m committed to my recovery and to supporting my teammates in every way I can the rest of this season," she added. "I’m grateful for the love and encouragement from my coaches, teammates, and everyone who has been with me throughout this journey at the University of Iowa.”
With a career .407 shooting percentage on 3-pointers, McCabe is tied for the best mark in program history with Kristi Smith. (This season, she was shooting 37% on 3s.) Her 172 3-pointers made ranks 11th among Hawkeye players all-time.
The Hawkeyes (18-2, 9-0 Big Ten) moved up two spots to No. 8 in this week's AP women's college basketball poll. Iowa faces arguably its biggest challenge of the season this coming week with a visit to Los Angeles to play USC on Thursday and No. 2 UCLA on Sunday. As Yahoo Sports' Cassandra Negley wrote, the Hawkeyes are developing into a top contender two seasons after Caitlin Clark left Iowa City.

In a message on social media, McCabe thanked fans for their support and asked for the same to be sent to her sister Peyton, a guard for Drake who sustained an ankle injury in Sunday's 89-88 loss to Murray State. Peyton McCabe, a sophomore, was averaging 1.8 points per game for the 6-13 Bulldogs.
