Athletes from Amarillo High, West Plains, Pringle-Morse, Happy, Caprock, Dumas and Canyon are among this week's nominees.
Spring sports are in full swing across the Lone Star State, with basketball and soccer in the midst of district play while swimming has reached the postseason.
Standouts from both sports are among the nominees for the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 19-25, 2026.
The Globe-News is taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the High School Athlete of the Week each Tuesday.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Saturday and can be submitted through email at [email protected], by messaging the Globe-News through its Facebook page or on Twitter @amarilloglobe.
Students in all varsity sports are eligible and can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.
