Florian Plettenberg reports the Bayer Leverkusen are also actively pursuing Borussia Mönchengladbach keeper Jonas Omlin. The former BMG captain no longer plays a role with his current Bundesliga club and has also been linked with a move to Sunderland.
Leverkusen will definitely sign a new keeper
Mark Flekken’s injury leaves Janis Blaswich tending the Leverkusen net for the foreseeable future. Speaking to reporters after yesterday’s Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen, B04 sporting director Simon Rolfes confirmed that Blaswich enjoyed the club’s full support. A back-up for Blaswich will nevertheless be sought on the transfer market.
“Our objective is to add to the goalkeeping team for the coming weeks,” Rolfes remarked in the BayArena mixed zone. “We lend Janis our full support and have confidence in his abilities, but we want to add to the goalkeeping team. We signed Janis this summer because we knew that he could play and I think he did very well today.“
