Beşiktaş have submitted an offer for AS Monaco centre-back Thilo Kehrer (29), according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Kehrer was initially benched at the start of the season, however, the vice-captain has, partially thanks to injuries in the Principality club’s back line, become a key player once more, under Sébastien Pocognoli.

The Germany international has played 22 games in all competitions, including featuring in all seven of Les Monégasques’ UEFA Champions League ties. He is now the subject of a bid worth a total of €15m (€12m fee plus another €3m in bonuses) from Turkish side Beşiktaş. However, Foot Mercato understands that the Principality club are holding out for €20m.

Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro has said that the club must sell a player before July in order to avoid to risk of non-compliance with UEFA regulations. However, he added that this financial objective must be balanced with sporting objectives. With Wout Faes and Eric Dier both sustaining injuries during the 0-0 draw against Le Havre AC on Saturday, it remains to be seen whether Monaco could now afford to part ways with another centre-back.
