Fans enjoy 'Harry Potter Night,' El Paso Chihuahuas win at Southwest University Park

"Harry Potter Night" brings out costumes, fun at El Paso Chihuahuas game against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.

With a theme that feels like magic, the El Paso Chihuahuas faced the Sugar Land Space Cowboys with fans dressed up for "Harry Potter Night" at Southwest University Park on Saturday, July 26.

Coming off a 3-1 record in their current series with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the Chihuahuas entered their fifth game, making sure to keep the fans on their toes and prepared to witness magic.

At 5:35 p.m., the gates are opened to fans dressed in robes and wielding wands.

One guest in particular was dressed very well for the occasion. A young girl, Arya Munoz, was wearing a carefully constructed Hedwig snowy owl costume and was very excited about it.

"I couldn't find a costume personally, but you know she looks really cute," said Arya's sister, Angelique Munoz.

Fans Orlando and Lizeth Baltazar have been fans of Harry Potter for quite some time, so this themed night was perfect for them.

"We do like baseball, but the Harry Potter is a plus," Lizeth Baltazar said.

The ceremonial first pitch was thrown by El Paso's Stephanie Han, boxing champ and El Paso police officer, who will defend her WBA women's lightweight title for the first time next month in Florida.

The magic continued with a final score of 5-1 in favor of the El Paso Chihuahuas, who wore special Hogwarts wizard school-themed uniforms, in front of 7,958 people in attendance.

To finish off the night, a fireworks spectacular was specially choreographed to match the Harry Potter theme with the house colors of red, blue, yellow and green.

The final game of this week's homestand is at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, for Bluey night, celebrating the cartoon puppy.
