Washington State snapped its four-game losing skid on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Pepperdine Waves 95-79.

A balanced effort paced the Cougar victory as six different players reached double-digit points. Simon Hildebrandt led the way with 19 points, splashing five threes. Ace Glass (18), Rihards Vavers (16), ND Okafor (15), Emmanuel Ugbo (11) and Eemli Yalaho (10) followed behind with double-digit point efforts.

The Cougars raced out to an early big lead thanks to a three-point barrage from Glass, Vavers, Yalaho and Hildebrandt. Before the game even reached the 10-minute mark, the Cougars already built a 29-9 lead. The Waves wouldn’t go away so easily, immediately countering with a 19-4 run to pull all the way back within five. Thankfully for the Cougs, that would be as close as the Waves would get. WSU (9-13, 4-5 in conference) kept the Waves at arm’s length, closing the first half strong to go back up double digits at the break.

Though the Waves would again get back within five early in the second half, WSU delivered a haymaker 17-3 run to seize full control of the game up 22 points. The Cougars cruised over the last eight minutes, finishing with a solid 16 point victory.

WSU will keep the homestand rolling on Wednesday when they welcome in the Seattle Redhawks.
