The most human moment of Skyscraper Live on Netflix came after the danger had passed.
After reaching the spire and rappelling down to the 101st floor of Taipei 101, Alex Honnold was reunited with his wife, Sanni, and their first exchange captured just how differently they had experienced the climb.
“It was great,” Honnold said. “Was it?” Sanni replied. “I was worried you were too hot the whole time.”
“I was hot a little bit,” Honnold said, before adding, “and then I was worried that it was too windy.”
“It was very windy. It was very windy,” Sanni said. “We came out on the lower level and I was like, Oh my gosh, so windy.”
Still, the relief was immediate.
“I felt good,” Honnold replied. “I have no idea how long that was.”
“You were fast…I was like, Please rest. Please stop.”
“Oh, yeah…I thought I was going pretty slow,” Honnold said in a joking way.
“No, you were fast,” Sanni replied. “I was basically having a panic attack the entire time.”

Honnold, calm even in hindsight, explained how steady he felt throughout. “I felt like I was being really chill. I was trying to wave to people,” he said, before acknowledging her concerns. “But then I was worried when you were like, ‘Did you clean your shoes enough? Did you clean?’”
“I cleaned my shoes like three times,” he added. “I cleaned my fingers a bunch of times. It was It I felt great.”
“Yay,” Sanni said. “Yeah. So good. You did great.”
Then came one of the more unexpected reflections from the climb’s final moments.
“Honestly, on the last on the last dragon, I was like, ‘I’m going to miss the dragons,’” Honnold said. “I was like, ‘It’s like so cool.’”
“I’m not going to miss the dragons,” Sanni sheepishly replied.
“That’s fair,” Honnold said. “That’s fair.”
From there, the moment softened into logistics and affection. “I’m proud of you,” Sanni told him. They exchanged kisses, laughed about finding the elevator, posed for photos while staying clipped in, and even waved to their kids.
“Hi, Summer,” Honnold said. “Hi, babies.”
After everything the climb demanded, they didn’t make a show of it. They just stayed close, shared a few quiet words, and headed down side by side, carrying the joy with them.
