Former Ole Miss wide receiver Cayden Lee has committed to Missouri out of the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Lee announced his plans to enter the portal on Jan. 17, filing his paperwork prior to the deadline at midnight Eastern time. He moved quickly to find his new home with the Tigers, who also signed Ole Miss transfer quarterback Austin Simmons earlier this month.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Lee was one of the team’s top receivers over the past two seasons, hauling in 44 passes for 635 yards and three touchdowns this year.
That followed a sophomore campaign where he was second on the team in receptions (57) and third in receiving yards (874) as the Rebels put together one of the best offensive seasons in the country. But with a major shakeup on Ole Miss’ coaching staff after Lane Kiffin left for LSU — including wide receivers coach George McDonald joining the Bayou Bengals — he has found a new home in Columbia.
His addition is a major boost for Eli Drinkwitz and Co. as they look to rebuild their offense around Simmons and All-American running back Ahmad Hardy, as well as standout No. 2 back Jamal Roberts. Three of the team’s top six receivers from a year ago — Kevin Coleman, Marquis Johnson (Kentucky) and Josh Manning (Kansas State) — all either graduated or left via the portal.
To replace them, the Tigers have now landed Lee, Cincinnati speedster Caleb Goodie, former Wake Forest and Auburn wideout Horatio Fields, Florida transfer Naeshaun Montgomery, and Minnesota’s Kenric Lanier II.
Major roster overhaul this offseason
The changes in the receiver room are a small part of a much bigger change in Missouri’s roster this offseason. The Tigers are set to replace a handful of starters on offense, but will also be replacing nearly their entire starting defense.
In addition to key players being out of eligibility, 26 players from the 2025 roster have now hit the portal. That number is largely comprised of players down the depth chart, but also includes star edge rusher Damon Wilson II, starting quarterback Beau Pribula and multi-year safety starter Marvin Burks Jr.
They’ve replaced those losses with some key additions from the portal, including the aforementioned wide receivers. Combined with the Tigers’ recruiting class, there will be more than 40 new faces on the roster in Columbia to start next season.
