FC Bayern might not be happy with Dayot Upamecano’s delayed response.
According to a report from Sport1’s Stefan Kumberger (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich has gone as far as it can go with its offer to star center-back Dayot Upamecano — and senior officials at the club might be starting to get frustrated with the situation:
Bayern have pushed themselves to their financial limits in their contract offer to Dayot Upamecano. The offer has been on the table for weeks, but the Frenchman is still hesitating to sign it. Impatience is growing behind the scenes at the club. The supervisory board, in particular, is irritated by the stalling tactics of Upamecano and his agent.
The question being asked at Säbener Straße is: What more does Upamecano want? In addition to the financial conditions, the sporting prospects are also good in Munich. Under Vincent Kompany, he has become a key player and one of the best defenders in the world. Kompany is ‘rolling out the red carpet’ for him. Bayern want clarity as soon as possible in order to move ahead with their squad planning.
Bayern Munich is reportedly offering a salary worth €20 million per season, a signing bonus worth €20 million, and a release clause able to be triggered as early as 2028. Meanwhile, Upamecano’s camp wants the release clause to be activated in 2027. The fee for the release has been rumored to be €65 million.
During the sometimes tense negotiations with Joshua Kimmich, who acted as his own agent, Bayern Munich was rumored to eventually have pulled the offer from the table. It remains to be seen if the Bavarians have the gumption to pull that kind of move here with Upamecano.
