Alabama Football moves on from OL Coach Chris Kapilovich

A total overhaul of a position group is underway in Tuscaloosa

All the local beat sites have now reported that Alabama’s coaching staff is planning to move on from OL Coach Chris Kapilovich. It was far from an unexpected move, as most fans have been calling for Kap to be let go ever since the Tide was ejected from the playoffs.

While the pass blocking was generally adequate, they were absolutely putrid in run blocking the last couple of seasons under Kapilovich (one of the very worst in the country by most any metric), and also had issues with blitz pickups – which is a clear indication on poor coaching.

Between Kap getting fired and the Tide moving on from 10 offensive linemen from last season, there will be total turnover at the position group next year, for better or for worse.

Speculate away on who you think the replacement will be. Maybe Scott Huff, who left Alabama with Ryan Grubb back in 2024, but has stayed in the NFL as a TE coach after getting fired from Seattle? Or maybe some name we’ve not heard of. Who knows. But hey, it can’t be bad until at least September 2026!
