New Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham signed his contract on Dec. 26, and now details of the contract have been revealed, via Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press.

Salary
- Five years, $41 million
- $2.2 million signing bonus
Buyout numbers
- Buyout if Whittingham leaves before Feb. 1, 2027: $5 million, and decreases by $1 million each Feb. 1 for the next four years.
- Fired without cause: Entitled to 75% of remaining base salary
Performance incentives
- Big Ten Championship Game appearance: $500,000
- Big Ten Championship win: $1,000,000
- College Football Playoff Incentives
- CFP opening-round bye: $200,000
- CFP quarterfinal appearance: $100,000
- CFP semifinal appearance: $200,000
- CFP National Championship Game appearance: $500,000
- CFP National Championship win: $1,000,000
Individual awards
- Big Ten Coach of the Year: $50,000
- National Coach of the Year: $75,000
Academic incentives
- APR of 960 or higher: $150,000, paid at the athletic director’s discretion

Coordinator salaries
- Per The Athletic’s Austin Meek, offensive coordinator Jason Beck will be paid over $3 million person season and defensive coordinator Jay Hill will make $2.6 million. Beck and Hill both have three year deals.
