TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Ichabods get redemption over the Bearcats.

The Washburn women outlast Northwest Missouri State in a 45-38 win. The Ichabods split the series with the Bearcats this season at 1-1.

At the end of the first half, the ‘Bods would hold the Bearcats to just 20% shooting at the end of the second quarter. Washburn would go on a 9-0 run to lead 24-21 at the half.

The third quarter would be quiet offensively for both teams. The ‘Bods would only score six and the Bearcats would score nine.

A strong fourth quarter would be needed to secure a win. Washburn would open the fourth quarter with a pair of threes from Aniah Wayne and Gabi Giovannetti. The Bearcats would tie the game at 38 a piece with less than six minutes remaining in the game. A 7-0 finish for the ‘Bods would seal the win for Washburn.

Payton Sterk led the squad with 16 points going 7-13 from the floor, followed by Yiibari Nwidadah with 13 points and 16 rebounds.
