NORFOLK (WAVY) – Old Dominion returned home to Chartway Arena for the first time in three weeks and lost to Troy 83-77 in double overtime.
While sharpshooter Robert Davis Jr. had an off night with just one point, KC Shaw picked up the slack and had a career-high 34 points.
The Monarchs led by as many as seven points in the first half, but Troy went on a late run to tie it up at 35-35 at halftime.
The game went back and forth in the second half, and ODU led late before Thomas Dowd made an 18-foot jumper with five seconds remaining to force overtime.
Troy sank two free throws in the overtime frame to tie the game at 70-70 and force another overtime.
The Monarchs never led in the second overtime and went on to lose for the third time in four games.
ODU will have to wait until next Wednesday to play again when it travels to Jonesboro to take on Arkansas State.
This Saturday’s game against Louisiana has been postponed to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16 because of the winter storm forecast for much of the country.
