Three LSU Tigers Standouts Have Chance At First Round NFL Draft Selection

Despite a down season, the LSU Tigers' top talents are poised for an early NFL Draft selection.

The LSU Tigers develop a lot of NFL talent, even in years where they don't really shine as a team.  This year is no different, despite finishing the season 7-6.

While this won't be a season where they break records, they will still see a handful of players find spots in the league. They may not have to wait long for the first former Tiger to hear his name called.

There's just one player who is a lock to get drafted in the first round, but there are actually some analysts who seem to believe to have a chance to go that early.

It takes just one team to fall in love with a prospect, and all of these players make at least some sense. Here are the LSU players who could go on Day 1:

There is no doubt that Delane is going to go in the first, and it's very deserved. He's a fringe top-10 pick that many believe is going to be the first cornerback off the board.

The 22-year-old spent just one year with the Tigers, but his elite performance already has him being talked about as one of the school's best cornerbacks of all time.

It has only become more impressive after learning he was dealing with an abdominal injury for most of the year.

Delane shut down half the field last year and was a key cog in turning the LSU defense into the elite machine that it was. Whichever NFL team adds him will be getting a foundational piece for their secondary.

A lot of Tigers fans may be shocked to hear this, but there are a lot of NFL folks who are still very intrigued by what Nussmeier could bring as a prospect. Him playing through his abdominal injury all of last year, leading to poor play, hurt his stock, but it didn't completely ruin it.

This is a very weak quarterback class. More teams need passers than they really have available to them. Nussmeier is a legacy player with all the tools, intangibles and healthy tape that it takes to lure scouts to him.

Right now, it doesn't seem likely that he'll go in the first, but he could win people over in the pre-draft process.

Haulcy seems like the kind of player that some team takes in the mid-20s that no one really expects. He's the second-best safety in this class behind Caleb Downs, who is going to be a top-10 pick.

The former Houston Cougars standout led LSU in tackles this past season with 88. He also had three interceptions and a forced fumble.

Haulcy is a playmaker and a disruptor. He does well in both pass coverage and run defense.
