The Canadiens then immediately made Dobson a long-term part of their future, as they signed him to an eight-year, $76 million contract.

Bringing in Dobson was undoubtedly the biggest move the Canadiens made this off-season, as he is a legitimate top-pairing defenseman who has the potential to be a serious difference-maker. Thus, he should be an excellent fit on a Canadiens club that is on the rise.
When looking at the Canadiens' roster, Dobson should slot perfectly on their top pairing and power play. Furthermore, with Dobson being only 25 years old, he is already locked up for the entirety of his prime years.
Dobson appeared in 71 games this past season with the Islanders, where he recorded 10 goals, 29 assists, and 39 points. Yet, he has demonstrated that he can produce far more offense from the point when playing at his best, as he had 70 points in 79 games with New York just back in 2023-24. He also recorded at least 49 points in each of the two seasons before the 2023-24 campaign.
Overall, when looking at all that Dobson provides, he should be a marvelous fit for the Canadiens. It will be fascinating to see what kind of campaign he puts together in 2025-26 with the Atlantic Division squad.
