Cornelius (N.C.) William Amos Hough cornerback Joshua Dobson must be getting good at welcoming guests, because college coaches from across the nation are visiting the five-star prospect.

As Dobson takes his recruitment into the spring and gets ready to play for a new high school for his senior season, he’s fielding interest from the who’s who of college football. Miami, fresh off a CFP National Championship appearance, is in that group.

This week, Dobson was visited by Hurricanes defensive backs coach Zac Etheridge:

It adds to what’s been a jam-packed January for the elite DB. Since the contact period re-opened, coaches have continued to make it known that Dobson is a priority. North Carolina was also in to see Dobson on Tuesday, while Notre Dame, Clemson and South Carolina have also done in the same in the new year.

Dobson has also taken a pair of visits this month. He got down to Auburn — a former stop for Etheridge — for junior day on Jan. 10 and was in College Station to see Texas A&M last weekend. It’s a crowded race, to say the least.

Miami looks to be in the mix, though. At the end of December, Dobson spoke about The U with CaneSport’s Stephen Wagner. Contact has picked up between the two parties as of late.

“At first when they offered me (in May) it was a slow process,” Dobson told CaneSport. “They didn’t really contact me as much, which I get. Sometimes they get caught up with the season and all that.”

“They are kind of late, like I said, which is fine, but if they do what they’re supposed to do they definitely can move up my list,” he added.

Miami has four commits in its 2027 class to date: four-star athlete Demarcus Deroche, four-star wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens, four-star safety Jaylyn Jones and three-star offensive tackle Zaquan Linton. All four are in-state recruits.

Dobson is the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 2 corner in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He ranks No. 3 nationally in the Rivals300.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder has transferred from Catawba Ridge (S.C.) to William Amos Hough (N.C.). The Huskies are coming off winning a North Carolina Class 8A state championship when they defeated Millbrook, 21-0. Dobson instantly becomes one of the best in the Tar Heel State.

Joshua Dobson Scouting Summary

Rivals National Scout Cody Bellaire previously wrote this of Dobson:

“Technically refined corner prospect with rare top-end speed and physical build. 6-foot-1, 180-plus pounds with over a 6-foot-5 wingspan. Excellent weight distribution throughout his frame. Can run with anyone on the field. Ran 10.78 in the 100m during his sophomore track season. Explosive and fluid athlete with tremendous change of direction. Very calm footwork and patience in coverage. Does an excellent job locating the football and playing through the receiver’s hands. Needs to continue developing physicality in run support, but is extremely advanced in cover ability.”
