Bodo defeat 'embarrassing' - Haaland

Manchester City's Erling Haaland says Tuesday's defeat by Bodo/Glimt was "not good enough" and apologised to the club's fans for the side's "embarrassing" performance. The 3-1 loss in Norway follows Sunday's 2-0 defeat by rivals Manchester United and means City have now won just two of their last seven games. "I think we did our best but there's something that's missing," Haaland told TNT Sports post-match.

Those two victories came in the FA Cup against League One Exeter and Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle, leaving Pep Guardiola's side without a Premier League win so far in 2026.

"I think we did our best but there's something that's missing," Haaland told TNT Sports post-match.

"I take full responsibility, together with Rodri, Tijjani [Reijnders], our experienced players.

"I don't want to blame anyone but we need to take more responsibility because in the end it's not good enough. We're Man City. We can't go around and not win games. It shouldn't be like this and in the end, it's deserved.

"I don't have the answers. I take full responsibility of not being able to score the goals I should do.

"I just apologise to everyone; every single Man City supporter and every single supporter that travelled today, because in the end it's embarrassing.

"Bodo, they played some incredible football and in the end it's deserved. Honestly, I don't know what to say because I don't have the answers, and what I can say is sorry."
