New York Yankees fans breathed a sigh of relief on Saturday afternoon when it was revealed that top star Aaron Judge does not have a damaged UCL. Furthermore, a new rumor claims he may not be gone that long.
Earlier today, Yankees fans had serious concerns that their 2025 season would begin a descent into mediocrity. They have struggled mightily for the last month. But when it was revealed before their game against the Phillies that the reigning AL MVP had discomfort in his throwing elbow, all hope for this season seemed in peril.
Hearing real optimism that Judge will miss something like the minimum 10 days and be able to play OF not long after that. That’s two TJ bullets on two years Yankees have dodged. Remember Soto last year ?

However, after an evaluation, it was found that the superstar slugger does not have any ligament damage and instead just a flexor strain. The big question now is how long he will be sidelined. Well, according to SNY MLB insider Andy Martino, he may only be away for the mandatory 10 days of an injured list stint.
“Hearing real optimism that Judge will miss something like the minimum 10 days and be able to play OF not long after that,” Martino wrote on X. “That’s two TJ bullets on two years Yankees have dodged. Remember Soto last year?”
Could star prospect Spencer Jones replace Aaron Judge on the Yankees roster?
With Judge expected to miss at least the next week and a half, there has been speculation about who could take his spot on the roster. One name thrown around by fans and analysts is stud prospect Spencer Jones. He has been tearing it up at Triple-A recently, and he could help the team on a temporary basis.
Martino also revealed on Saturday night that Jones replacing Judge is a long shot. However, his play this summer has changed his status within the organization when it comes to potentially being a trade chip before next week’s MLB trade deadline.
Two important things to tell you about Spencer Jones. He’s is not coming up immediately for Judge IL – but his recent play has moved him back toward untouchable status. These things are often fluid and he is now less likely to be traded because of his special play at Triple-A
