Yaya Touré denies making any comments on the Senegal vs Morocco final

While several websites have been circulating statements allegedly attributed to Yaya Touré regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, which saw Senegal defeat Morocco, the Ivorian legend has broken his silence.

The Ivory Coast legend has categorically denied all the statements being spread on social media as if they were his own. These comments, allegedly made by the former Manchester City midfielder, were in fact fabricated and never came from him.

“I am fair play, but I will never accept being robbed in front of the whole world. I loved the response and mentality of the Senegalese yesterday: whether it was the staff, the players, or the fans, everything was perfect at the right moment. That’s my opinion. I couldn’t care less about fair play when injustice tries to prevail and tarnish my story. I will never accept it. If Senegal hadn’t responded the way they did yesterday, it would have been over for them in this CAN,” was one of the fabricated quotes circulating on social media.

The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations champion took to his official X account to set the record straight: “Some quotes about the CAN final are circulating online and being attributed to me. To be very clear, I have not given any interview or spoken to anyone about this final; these words are not from me and should not be attributed to me. Thank you,” he stated.

To recap, Senegal won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by defeating Morocco in a final that was full of twists and turns, notably when the Senegalese players walked off the pitch after a penalty was awarded to Morocco, only to return and resume the match.
