Kevin Danso insists that the Tottenham squad are fighting for their under-pressure manager, Thomas Frank, amid reports that the Dane could be sacked.
Spurs beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Champions League, but before that they had only won one of their last eight matches in all competitions.
Frank and the players have been the subject of boos after matches as of late after poor performances against Brentford, Bournemouth and West Ham in the Premier League.
When asked if the players are fighting for the manager, Danso said: “Definitely, I think we’re all together.
“We know it’s down to us at the end of the day, what we do on the pitch, and just every game we try to give our best.
“Also, maybe when we’re not playing well, we need to try and win the game and get the results that we deserve, I feel like that’s the real next step for us, even when it’s not going well, just trying to win games and get results.”
“I think the frustration is there from the fans,” he added.
“We understand it. We want to win games and that’s what we try to do. We take it on board, but it’s down to us, the players on the pitch, to do the best that’s possible and win the games and get the results that we deserve.”
Spurs have only won two home matches in the Premier League this season, but in the Champions League they have won all four of their matches at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium without conceding a goal.
Danso addressed the juxtaposition in form between the two competitions.
“We want to be good in all competitions,” he said.
“We want to compete on all fronts, and Europe is an opportunity to do that. We showed again today that we’re a good side and we just have to keep going and try and do the same in the Premier League.”
