Kansas basketball earns 3rd-straight Big 12 win by beating Colorado

Big 12 Conference play continued for Kansas basketball on Tuesday. Here’s more on how the Jayhawks were able to come away with a win against Colorado.

LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball captured a 75-69 win on Tuesday on the road against Colorado during Big 12 Conference play.

The No. 19 Jayhawks (14-5, 4-2 in Big 12) have now won three-straight games against Big 12 opponents with this victory. The win follows victories at home against now-No. 9 Iowa State and Baylor. KU wasn’t able to coast to the finish with ease as it had the past two matchups, but dispatching a challenging opponent away from home hasn’t come easy to date for the Jayhawks this season.

Kansas also won this game without coach Bill Self on the sideline, as he missed the matchup due to a health issue, so assistant coach Jacque Vaughn served as the team’s acting head coach. Vaughn may be in his first season as an assistant on Self’s staff, but he’s been a head coach in the NBA in the past so he was no stranger to this role. Vaughn had to navigate a night in which freshman guard Darryn Peterson went through his share of struggles offensively, despite reaching 16 points, but the Jayhawks came away with a win regardless.

Kansas was led in scoring by senior guard Melvin Council Jr., who had 18 points. Senior guard Tre White contributed with a 17-point and 15-rebound double-double. Sophomore forward Flory Bidunga nearly had a double-double himself, as he finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
