Liverpool will need to splash the cash in a big way if they're to secure one of their top targets. Another nine-figure deal.
Liverpool spent lavishly in the summer, twice breaking their transfer record. That might be underselling it, in fact: they struck two nine-figure transfer deals, having previously never struck one.
Florian Wirtz was the first. He joined from Bayer Leverkusen for £100m and that could rise to around £120m with add-ons.
Alexander Isak followed. He signed from Newcastle United for what ended up being a new British transfer record.
Now, were either actually worth that money? Time will tell but their respective starts haven't been great. Liverpool are yet to see a clear return on them - though, Wirtz has certainly looked more like his old self in recent weeks.
But the big question is will the slow starts deter Liverpool from paying nine figures again anytime soon? We might be about to find out.
Yan Diomande to cost a fortune
Now, whether Yan Diomande ends up costing 100 million pounds is one thing but he'll certainly get close to it. RB Leipzig managing director Oliver Mintzlaff has made it clear that the player will not move for anything that could even be compared to cheap.
“With such a young player that we just signed, you can’t give him away after just one year," he said, per the Athletic. "In recent years, RB Leipzig has worked out that even top players can certainly stay longer.
"As chairman of the supervisory board, I would say that he will still be there next season, even if an offer of €80million or €90m comes.”
