The Phoenix Suns have reportedly not ruled out pursuing a young forward from the Golden State Warriors despite facing a major obstacle.
Suns Haven’t Ruled Out Pursuit of Warriors’ Young Forward Despite Glaring Problem originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Phoenix Suns have already made many moves this offseason to retool their roster around star guard Devin Booker but more moves could be coming.
Of course, the Suns have officially ended their big three of Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal as they traded Durant to the Houston Rockets and bought out Beal’s contract.
In the Durant trade, Phoenix landed Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and draft capital, including the pick they used to select Khaman Maluach in the 2025 draft.
They also selected Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea in the draft and acquired Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets.
With these moves, the Suns will enter next season with an almost completely different roster than last season but more moves could be on the way as they have recently been linked to Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga.
According to Suns insider John Gambadoro, the Suns like Kuminga and have had discussions with the Warriors despite the belief being that it would be a hard move to pull off for Phoenix.
Yes we have not ruled out Kuminga. The Suns like him -they have had discussions with the Warriors. Belief was that it would be hard to do but they continue to look for avenues. https://t.co/6sb3zB0TbM

Of course, Kuminga is a restricted free agent and the only way for the Suns to add him this summer is via a sign-and-trade with the Warriors.
While that looks to be a doable thing for the Suns to do, they do lack draft capital and players the Warriors would want in return as it has been reported that Golden State has already turned down an offer centered around Grayson Allen.
Due to this, the Suns face a major problem in trying to add Kuminga to their roster and they may be unable to do so if they are not willing to give up who the Warriors want in return.
Despite this, Gambadoro did say in his report that the Suns are looking for different avenues to land Kuminga this offseason but it will be an extremely difficult move for them to pull off.
