Australian Open first-round doubles match will feature former Vols

2026 Australian Open first-round doubles match will feature three former Vols on Tuesday.

Four former Tennessee men's tennis players will compete in the doubles first round of the Australian Open on Tuesday at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

Pat Harper and Adam Walton will play John-Patrick Smith and Adam Pavlasek at 7 p.m. EST on court 13 in a match that will feature three former Vols. The match can be watched on ESPN+.

In 2021, Harper and Walton won NCAA doubles national championship.

Walton played at Tennessee from 2017-22 and achieved All-SEC First Team honors twice and was recognized as an ITA All-America player in both singles and doubles in 2021-22. He compiled a 124-25 singles record and went 101-47 in doubles competition at Tennessee.

Harper played for the Vols from 2018-23 and was named ITA Doubles All-America three times (2021-23). He was 96-38 in doubles competition and compiled a singles record of 44-20.

Smith played for the Vols from 2007-11, earning All-SEC First-Team honors three times (2008-10). He had a doubles record of 146-38 and went 152-44 in singles competition.

Former Vol Mark Wallner will team with Jakob Schnaitter to play Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski on court 13 in a match slated to begin at 11:40 p.m. EST (ESPN+).

A Temple transfer, Wallner played at Tennessee from 2019-22, compiling a 28-14 singles record and a 58-24 doubles record. Wallner went 42-17 in singles and 38-17 in doubles competition at Temple.
