Mike Verweij is reporting that Oleksandr Zinchenko’s move to Ajax may well be a permanent transfer rather than a loan. The Ukrainian was supposed to have his medical with Ajax later today but there has been a delay. Arsenal and Ajax had an agreement in place for a loan, but talks have now turned to a permanent transfer because Zinchenko’s contract is being run down.
Zinchenko spent the first half of this season on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he made just 10 appearances in the Premier League and cup competitions. Despite joining Arsenal in 2022 and making 91 appearances, he is clearly not in the sides plans anymore. Zinchenko has played in the Eredivisie before, spending time on loan at PSV during the 2016/2017 season. He played 17 games for the side while on loan from Manchester City.
Zinchenko will certainly bring some versatility to the Ajax squad, as well as plenty of experience and some real quality. Alongside the Arsenal man, Ajax are also hoping to bring in Santos defender JP Chermont.
