New signing Marc Guéhi says he is hugely excited at now being able to call ‘amazing’ England team-mates Phil Foden and John Stones his Manchester City colleagues too.
City complete Marc Guéhi signing
Centre-half Guéhi has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at the Etihad after sealing a move to City from Crystal Palace.
One of the most accomplished defenders operating in the Premier League, the 25-year-old arrives at the Etihad already armed with extensive experience of playing alongside both Foden and Stones on the international stage.
Indeed, his link-up with Foden traces back in 2017 when the pair were part of the all-conquering England side that won the Under-17 FIFA World Cup.
Since then, Foden and Guéhi – who has won 26 full caps to date - have become integral members of the Three Lions’ senior set-up.

Together with Stones meanwhile, Guéhi has cemented an iron-clad central defensive partnership for England, with the pair being the fulcrum of the side that finished runners-up at the 2024 European Championships.
Now, in the wake of sealing his move to City, Guéhi will be able to call the pair club colleagues as well.
And for his part, Guéhi – who has become City’s second exciting signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Antoine Semenyo earlier this month – said he was hugely excited at the prospect working alongside the pair day in, day out.
“Phil’s amazing. I could go on and on and on about him,” Guéhi said of our Academy graduate.
“First and foremost, just him as a person, before the footballer, he’s amazing.
“Someone, I’m going to say, who has that inner child in him – [he] just wants to play, just wants to enjoy life and he’s always been like that.
“He’s never changed and it’s an honour to play with him.
“And as a footballer, he’s second to none – natural ability, a winner, obsessed.
“So, I’m really glad to be able to play with him on a consistent basis now.”
That excitement and enthusiasm was equally evident when Guéhi – who will wear the number 15 shirt at City – spoke about Stones and the indelible impact he has already had on his career.
“I think John has taken me under his wing to be honest. Especially when I’m with the national team, I see him as a big brother,” Marc revealed.
“He’s someone who has looked out for me, especially playing with him at the Euros was amazing.
“He just makes your life easier, because of his understanding of the game and how good he is.
“But again, the person, he’s such a down-to-earth guy, especially with all that he’s achieved.
“He’s such an amazing person to be around and I’m really delighted to playing with him.”
