Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. is going through a difficult time. Given his inconsistent form this season, the Brazilian forward has found himself on the receiving end of the home fans’ anger.

Indeed, for several games in a row now, the 25-year-old forward has been booed and whistled at by fans at the Santiago Bernabeu, more recently this past weekend against Levante.

The forward was visibly affected by the reception from the supporters and headed straight to the tunnel after the game unlike his teammates who went around the pitch and applauded fans.

Moreover, reports suggested that Vinicius was seriously considering his future at the club after the recent treatment he had received from the fans.

Real Madrid still wish to renew Vinicius

However, according to Jose Felix Diaz of AS, Real Madrid remain intent on renewing Vinicius’ contract and their offer for a renewal still remains on the table.

Vinicius has now reached 351 appearances for Real Madrid, and the intention of the club’s directors is for the Brazilian to extend that number well beyond 30 June 2027, the date on which his current contract expires.

What happened last Saturday at the Bernabeu, with hostility directed at him, does not help, but the reaction of teammates, club officials and coaches around him has helped to offset the difficult moment he experienced on the pitch, to some extent.

After all, they did not allow the Brazilian to leave the stadium as if it had been just another day. They comforted him and, above all, made him aware of how important he is to the team.

Real Madrid’s renewal offer remains for Vinicius to consider. The Merengues have not improved the terms that they had initially put forth, which the player has been reluctant to accept, hoping for a higher salary.

As such, it is the Brazilian who has to make the next move, knowing that the club stands by him both in good moments and in times of maximum tension such as last Saturday.

Vinicius has the final say, and the logical outcome is that a solution will be found in the coming weeks. For now, however, the priority is to restore normality in every sense, especially in the relationship between the team and the supporters.
