Manchester United confirmed over the weekend that Sam Mather had finally completed his long-awaited move to Kayserispor.
Back in the summer, the midfielder had been on the verge of joining the Turkish outfit until the deal fell through at the 11th hour.
Mather was left feeling aggrieved at the fact he’d be spending another five months playing academy football, but bided his time in preparation for the January window.

The two clubs agreed a fee early last week, meaning the youngster could fly to Turkey on Wednesday to undergo his medical and oversee the formalities of his transfer.
Now, United have announced that Mather has completed his permanent switch, ending a 14-year association with the Red Devils’ youth setup.
He leaves without having made a first-team appearance for the club, although he did gain senior experience through his loan spells with Rochdale and Tranmere Rovers.
The 21-year-old was part of United’s FA Youth Cup-winning squad four years ago.

It remains to be seen if the Reds will facilitate any other permanent outgoings from now until the February 2 deadline.
In the months leading up to January, it was anticipated that both Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee would push to leave in order to secure more minutes elsewhere.
However, the former made his first Premier League start of the campaign for Saturday’s emphatic Manchester derby win, suggesting he will indeed play an integral role under interim manager Michael Carrick for the remainder of the term.
Zirkzee, on the other hand, missed out due to injury, but will be hoping he can force his way into Carrick’s plans as soon as he’s back to full fitness. If not, he is a firm target for AS Roma.
