Phillies-Red Sox Trade Idea Sends Boston's All-Star Game MVP to Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the teams in Major League Baseball that could find help from the Boston Red Sox if they move on from Jarren Duran. Reports have indicated that Duran could be traded, not because of his play, but rather because the Red Sox have numerous young outfielders who require daily at-bats, and he's taking them away. The Phillies, on the other hand, would be the ideal landing spot for a player of his caliber.

Not only do the Phillies need a player who could come in and make a massive impact, but Duran should also be interested in playing in Philadelphia.

The Phillies have an opportunity to win a World Series, and he’d get to live in another great city.

Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson (59) looks on from the dugout against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

When looking at other reasons why the Phillies could use him, Fox Sports proposed a trade idea between them and the Red Sox.

“The Phillies are in a grudge match with the New York Mets for the NL East and are trying to break through and win the World Series while their core is still in its prime. How about getting a two-for-one: somebody who improves Philadelphia in the present and gives it a safety net from potentially losing one of its core bats in the offseason?

“As for the present, Duran could take over in center field, moving Brandon Marsh into the fourth outfielder role,” they wrote.

Unlike the Red Sox, the Phillies don't have the luxury of having a few young stars in the outfield.

Brandon Marsh hasn't done much of anything over the past few years in Philadelphia, something the team simply has to figure out heading into the deadline.
