These five teams may be in the Arch Manning sweepstakes next year.
It’s a forgone conclusion that Arch Manning may head to the NFL next year if he wins the Heisman and leads the Texas Longhorns to a national championship.
The question becomes if Manning decides to jump to the NFL next year, what teams could draft him?
Here is a list of NFL teams that may be in the Manning sweepstakes next year.
Jacksonville Jaguars
After last year, the Trevor Lawrence experience may be coming to an end soon in Jacksonville. All signs are pointing to next year’s draft if Lawrence doesn’t get his team to the playoffs this upcoming season. They definitely would draft Manning if he decided to come out.
Dallas Cowboys
This may not be the obvious choice, but why wouldn’t the Cowboys draft Manning? He is just down the road in Austin and could be the perfect fit, especially if the Cowboys decided to do a blockbuster trade to send one of their stars to a team that may be a player away from winning the Super Bowl. The Cowboys have plenty of trade bait to make it happen.
New Orleans Saints
Wouldn’t it be a fairytale ending if Manning were back with his hometown team, where his grandfather played? This is the ending most Saints fans are praying for that hometown hero Arch comes home and saves the franchise. Since Drew Brees has retired and Sean Payton moved on, the Saints have struggled and have been a shell of themselves over the past few years.
But if things break their way, so to speak, this is a realistic landing spot for the younger Manning.
Cleveland Browns
What list would be complete without the Cleveland Browns? Outside the Jaguars, the Browns are the team most likely to land Manning, but would he want to play there? The history of the franchise says probably not. Cleveland seems to be a place where QB careers go to die, and if the Browns end up picking first in next year’s draft, expect Manning to stay in Austin another year.
