Michigan State transfer LB Aisea Moa commits to Michigan Football

BOOM! Michigan just landed a commitment in the transfer portal from former Michigan State linebacker Aisea Moa, the older brother of Salesi Moa! STORY:

The Wolverines saw a former wide receiver of theirs in Fredrick Moore commit to the Michigan State Spartans last week, and now Michigan has taken one of its rivals players through the transfer portal as well.

Announced on Saturday morning, former MSU linebacker Aisea Moa has committed to the Wolverines out of the portal.

He joins his younger brother, true freshman wide receiver/defensive back Salesi Moa, who announced he was transferring to Michigan after an incredibly short stint at Utah.

The older Moa actually began his college career in Provo, playing for new Michigan defensive coordinator Jay Hill at BYU. He was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and was among the best players in the state of Utah in the 2022 class.

After playing in just five games his first two years in college, Moa saw his playing time significantly increase in 2024. That season, he played in 12 games and compiled 16 total tackles and one forced fumble.

After entering the portal following the 2024 season, Moa found his way to East Lansing for 2025. Unfortunately, he did not contribute all that much this past fall, only totaling 12 total tackles and one pass breakup in eight games for the Spartans.

At the very least, Moa will contribute in a depth role for the Wolverines in 2026. Considering the team lost Ernest Hausmann, Jimmy Rolder, Cole Sullivan and Jaydon Hood this offseason — and whiffed on star linebackers in the portal like Cade Uluave (BYU) and Rasheem Biles (Texas) — bringing in a player that has multiple years of experience in Hill’s defensive system is a no-risk move.

Kyle Whittingham and company now have commitments from 18 players through the transfer portal this offseason. Moa joins his aforementioned younger brother along with Pitt long snapper Nico Crawford, Pitt kicker Trey Butkowski, UNLV punter Cam Brown, Utah edge rusher John Henry Daley, Utah defensive lineman Jonah Lea’ea, Oklahoma running back Taylor Tatum, Texas wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, Utah wide receiver JJ Buchanan, Nebraska offensive lineman Houston Ka’aha’aina-Torres, Memphis safety Chris Bracy, LSU quarterback Colin Hurley, Utah cornerback Smith Snowden, Western Illinois linebacker Christian Pierce and Marshall long snapper Gavin Magorien.

Moa has one year of college eligibility left.
