He does have a bit of a point.

Trinidad Chambliss is doing everything he can to keep playing college football.
The Ole Miss star QB is pursuing legal action to gain more eligibility.
This fall was his first Division I season after transferring to the Rebels from Division II Ferris State, where he won a national title a season ago.
He got Ole Miss close in Division I, falling in the College Football Playoff semifinal round.
And like many other players these days, Chambliss is chasing more years in college football.
An NFL legend, Robert Mathis is confused.
Mathis was a superstar pass rusher for the Indianapolis Colts. On X, he chimed in with his thoughts.
He doesn't get why the NFL isn't the aspiration:
I’m literally dumbfounded…. The @NFL is no longer the goal here??? He ended college career with his draft stock very high so what am I missing here seriously? https://t.co/bov2983aAk

He's got a solid point, but it's a different football world.
There's so much money to be made for a guy like Chambliss to be a star player in college.
In the NFL, he'd be grinding to prove he belongs as a backup first and maybe down the road a starter.
Chambliss wants one more college season to chase the top of the mountaintop before getting knocked way down the totem pole in the NFL, which will happen whether he leaves now or later.
Mathis has a fair point, too. It's a complicated picture.
