Estevao Willian caught the eye in Liam Rosenior’s first match against Premier League opposition.

After coming off the bench against Charlton Athletic, the Brazilian youngster was handed his full debut by Liam Rosenior in the Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal.

Midweek, fans got a real look at what Estevao can bring. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink praised his performance afterward, saying he had never seen anyone trouble Jurrien Timber quite like that.

Pedro Neto also drew praise from Rosenior for his efforts, while Alejandro Garnacho’s brace played a huge role in keeping Chelsea in it. That leaves some decisions to make ahead of Brentford.

Liam Delap is expected to return to lead the line after Marc Guiu was taken off early in the second half against Arsenal.

Estevao Willian has featured 26 times this season, but just 13 of those appearances have come from the start.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Enzo Maresca was mindful of the Brazilian’s age when selecting line-ups.

It was an approach that did not always sit well with fans, but it looks like Rosenior is set to take a similar approach.

The Daily Mail reports that the 41-year-old manager has already had talks with some players, including Estevao, to manage expectations around starting opportunities.

Chelsea’s attacking depth under Liam Rosenior

Chelsea currently have a solid number of attacking options to choose from.

Jamie Gittens, Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho, Estevao Willian, Cole Palmer and Tyrique George are all comfortable playing out wide, giving Rosenior plenty of flexibility to rotate his squad.

Additionally, Neto has occasionally shifted to the left wing to make room for Estevao this season.

While there is clear reasoning behind easing Estevao in gradually given his age, it is hard not to wonder how it affects his ability to build momentum and form.
