The Liverpool boss is short of players in that position after Conor Bradley suffered a season-ending knee injury in the draw with Arsenal.
Ramsay, 22, has only featured once for the first team this season, in a Carabao Cup defeat by Crystal Palace.
Earlier this week, Ramsay spoke about his decision to stay at Anfield in the summer rather than seek a loan move and how training with the Reds' first team has helped his development.
Slot said: "It is great for Calvin where he is. He came back to the Under-21s half a year ago and everyone there is hoping for a big chance and it is a big chance he is having now to come to the first team.
"When someone is really unlucky with injuries, there is always someone who benefits and Calvin is one of those. But I still think I have better options to play, but at the moment I am running out of options.
"He has shown in that one game against Palace and when he trained with us that he is good enough to be in and around our players, then sometimes you have to wait for a chance to show this to the rest of the world, but at this moment I have - in my opinion - still better options."
