When Neymar reps FC Bayern you know you’ve made it
Neymar is a fantastic player known for his trickery and unpredictability on the ball. So you could say he knows ball, both in that sense and in knowing which players are some of the greatest around. In fact, he named a couple Bayern Munich players in his top five German players ever. The 33-year-old Brazilian has listed Toni Kroos, Thomas Müller, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mario Götze, and Mesut Özil (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia).
Putting Kroos, Thomas, and Basti among the greats is a no-brainer; everyone has them up there. Özil is a great shout too, but listing Götze is an interesting choice considering he hasn’t really been that kind of player. Perhaps the reason for this is something like Neymar himself: a joy to watch on the pitch (when fit) but never got to the level expected of him. Maybe it’s something to do with the 2014 World Cup final, who knows?
