Think of it as a kind of mid-term evaluation.
It has been a news-filled 10 days here at Purple Row.
Think about it. Over the course of the last week, the Rockies have done the following:
- Traded for Jake McCarthy
- Claimed Keegan Thompson
- Signed Michael Lorenzen
- Signed Willi Castro
- Begun signing their international free agent class
As Skyler Timmins noted today,
Add to all that, the Rockies front office is routinely communicating with media. Last week, Paul DePodesta and Josh Byrnes answered an email from Patrick Saunders conveying a reader’s question about the front office structure. Earlier today, DePodesta and Michael Lorenzen spoke to media via Zoom. (Look for more on that in the coming days.)
Based on what the Rockies have said, they’re not done yet, and adding at least one more veteran starter is in the works.
Whew!
One thing’s for sure: It’s not your parents’ Colorado Rockies.
So, let’s do a pre-spring training evaluation. (We’ll do this again when spring training has concluded.)
Based on what we’ve seen so far, how would you grade the rebuilding Colorado Rockies?
