Allegri: ‘Milan need another 40 points, Fullkrug available despite injury’

Max Allegri warns Milan still have it all to do if they want to ‘stay close to the top’ of Serie A and confirms Niclas Fullkrug could play against Como tonight despite injury.

It kicks off at the Stadio Sinigaglia at 19.45 GMT (20.45 CET).

These are the rescheduled Week 16 fixtures, moved from December due to the Supercoppa Italiana commitments.

It is a big opportunity for the Rossoneri, as Napoli were held to a 0-0 draw by Parma last night, while Inter beat Lecce 1-0.

Allegri keeps Milan on their toes

“The table does count for something right now, as we amassed 40 points, but we’ve got to get just as many to finish in the top four and stay close to the top,” Allegri told DAZN Italia.

“It is a tough match tonight, Como have some very precise characteristics, such as focus on possession, and they concede few goals. We need to be precise and clean when passing the ball.”

Rafael Leao and Christopher Nkunku lead the attack this evening, while Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot return in midfield.

“It’s not just the pace of Leao that can cause problems for Como, but the runs from deep of the other players too. We must do well to break free of that press when they come to attack us.”

Milan lost ground recently in the title race after back-to-back 1-1 draws against Genoa and Fiorentina, confirming they struggle more against the mid to low table teams.

Strahinja Pavlovic and Santiago Gimenez are out injured, but January signing Fullkrug is on the bench despite reportedly fracturing a toe last week.

“Fullkrug immediately said he was available, he said that he’s played with this infraction before, so he’s used to it. This proves how much he cares about the team and has a strong character, he is very important for us,” explained Allegri.
