SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Evangel women’s basketball team is on a roll.
The Valor went into Wednesday night’s game against Avila on a 12-game winning streak.
Evangel also broke into the NAIA national rankings this week at number 22.
Wednesday night the Valor squared off with Eagles of Avila, who they’re 43-19 against all-time.
A win would sweep the season series.
Early first quarter, time winding down on the shot clock, Heaven Shockley gets the bucket, ties the contest, 6-6.
Final minute of the period, Madilyn Milton uses good foot work to get the lay up to go, Eagles jump ahead 25-15.
Second quarter, Valor get the steal off the inbounds pass, Lydia Babirye with the shooter’s roll to cut the deficit to two points.
Teammate Carson Dillard got a hot hand shortly after that, she knocks down a three off a steal to give the Valor a 26-25 lead.
The Valor trailed by three at the half but came back to win 72-71 that’s 13 wins in a row.
On the mens side, Garrett Davault scored 20 points as Evangel wins 82-61.
