Slot was right about this, and it's important to focus on the last three words: 'at this time.'
Because the Liverpool head-coach must have known that there is a similar profile to Murphy at Liverpool, he just wasn't available for a long period of the season.
Until Jeremie Frimpong came back into the team against Tottenham, the Reds have been devoid of the secret weapon he has under his belt.
Frimpong is a very similar profile to Murphy in that he is quick and he will always look to cross the ball and create chances for his teammates.
In the last calendar year, Murphy ranked second for crosses per 90 minutes in Europe's top five leagues (5.82).
Frimpong ranked sixth, not far behind Murphy averaging 5.41 crosses per 90 minutes.
Now, he's making the difference for Liverpool and he's finally 'arrived' at the club.
Against Tottenham, he provided the cross that led to Hugo Ekitike netting Liverpool's second goal of the game.
Then Frimpong a crucial cut-back against Wolves, which again made the difference for Liverpool, making sure the Reds got the victory.
Against Fulham it was the same. Frimpong's cross found Cody Gakpo, and ultimately Liverpool managed to secure at least a point, but might have gotten all three if it wasn't for a beauty of a strike from Harrison Reed.
And then finally at Barnsley Frimpong netted to give Liverpool a two goal cushion, which was much needed considering the Reds ended up playing the game at 2-1 for a long period.
So, that's four goal contributions, massive ones that have made the difference for Liverpool. All in just the last six games.
Liverpool have had to wait a long time for Frimpong to get going. But now he's finally arrived on the scene and he could just be about to save Slot's season at the club.
