Liverpool have made a financial decision that not everyone will agree with. £200k-a-week is a lot of money, though.

Liverpool will make moves in 2026 - but it increasingly appears that they won't this month. And that seems like a strange decision, in all honesty.

The Reds are short at the back after Giovanni Leoni's injury put them down a centre-back. Conor Bradley's injury then leaves them light on the right, with Joe Gomez expected to cover both roles for the rest of the season.

The Athletic, though, report that Liverpool will not move for new players mid-season. It's something of a surprise and one that commits the squad to being stretched thin.

But it does seem that Liverpool aren't seeing the financial justification for the moves they want to make. That's despite one player being available and potentially open to a deal.

The Marc Guehi situation

Talksport report that Liverpool aren't expected to move for Marc Guehi this month. It certainly isn't because they're not interested in the defender, though.

The Reds were incredibly close to signing Guehi right at the end of the summer window. Crystal Palace's last-minute decision to call the deal off is the only reason he's not currently wearing Red - and their interest remains as he winds his contract down.

Guehi's deal will expire at the end of June, allowing him to move for free once the season is done. Though, teams do have the option of signing him at a cut-price amount this month if they meet Palace's reduced asking price.
