Rangers Monitor This Hungarian Winger Ahead Of A Potential Winter Move: Why They Must Intensify Their Interest

If a recent report from Record Sport is believed to be true, Rangers are keeping close tabs on Damir Redzic ahead of a potential winter swoop. The Hungarian attacker has impressed for DAC Dunajska Strada in the Slovak Super Liga, thus grabbing the Gers’ attention amid rumours of several new names midway through the January window.

The 22-year-old winger progressed through the academy ranks of Harkány, Kozármisleny and Pécs before joining the esteemed ranks of Ferencváros. There, he made strides with the reserves as well as on loan at Soroksár in the lower divisions, but failed to secure a regular first-team status. After an initial loan, DAC Dunajská Streda snapped him up permanently in the summer of 2024.

Redzic has so far flourished for DAC 1904, with 14 goals and 4 assists in 49 appearances across competitions [stats via Transfermarket]. He made his international debut last year against the Republic of Ireland, which, however, resulted in a painful 2-3 defeat, leading to the Magyars’ elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Rangers have not only revived under Danny Rohl but are thriving in the league, as they are back in the hunt for the coveted Premiership crown following a commanding 3-1 Old Firm victory over Celtic. The board are backing the German chief, who has already signed Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz to bolster the midfield. Additionally, Westerloo fullback Tuur Rommens is expected to be announced soon, with a view to challenging and covering Jayden Meghoma down the left.

Why Rangers Should Bring Him In Regardless Of Olsen’s Signing

While the Light Blues are also chasing Andreas Skov Olsen, a move for Redzic could be seen as a market opportunity or an alternative in case they fail to land the Wolfsburg star. Both of them prefer to operate from the right, but Olsen’s stronger left foot fits him better as an inverted winger.

Having said that, Rangers must aim for Redzic, who could become a long-term solution after failing to convert the loan moves of Abdallah Sima and Vaclav Cerny in the past. Olsen, too, would join for the remainder of the season if a deal is struck, and the form and fitness woes of Oliver Antman highlight the necessity of further reinforcements on the right-hand flank.

Although the majority of summer recruits have failed to deliver, the management must back Rohl, as they did Russell Martin, regardless of his disastrous 123 days in charge as the Ibrox boss. Nedim Bajrami, Rabbi Matondo and Danilo have been transfer-listed for not being in the manager’s plans, and the arrival of Redzic would restore their depth, as well as quality, alongside Djeidi Gassama, Mikey Moore and Findlay Curtis.
