Michigan football lands ex-Memphis S Chris Bracy in transfer portal

Chris Bracy appeared in all 13 games while making 11 starts for Memphis Tigers in 2025 as a redshirt sophomore. Now he joins Michigan football.

Michigan football continues to add to its transfer portal class, landing former Memphis defensive back Chris Bracy on Monday night.

Bracy, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety, announced the move on his social media. He has two years of eligibility remaining after beginning his career in 2023 at UAB.

Last season at Memphis, Bracy became a key player on the Tigers’ defense finishing third in tackles (81) to go with 9½ tackles for loss, a team-best nine pass breakups and one interception.

NC State Wolfpack wide receiver Wesley Grimes collides in the end zone with Memphis Tigers defensive back Chris Bracy and scores a touchdown in the first quarter during the Gasparilla Bowl at Raymond James Stadium, Dec. 19, 2025 in Tampa, Fla.

Bracy was a three-star recruit in high school coming out of Mobile, Alabama (St. Paul's Episcopal School) according to 247 Sports' composite rankings.

The Wolverines are in desperate need to revamp their secondary after losing a ton of key pieces to the transfer portal including TJ Metcalf, Elijah Dotson, Brandyn Hillman, Jaden Mangham and Jayden Sanders − three of whom were safeties.
