Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, better known as Coach Prime, has had a complicated relationship with Nike since his time as a Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback in the NFL.

He initially signed with the athletic wear company in 1992, but the relationship went south at some point. According to an article published by USA Today in 2023, Sanders revealed in an interview with Complex from 2017 that he never felt truly compensated for his work in developing the Air Diamond Turf shoes.

Coach Prime then partnered with rival sportswear company Under Armour in 2009 to release custom shirts, shoes and cleats. However, due to his complicated endorsement history, Sanders' daughter, Shelomi Sanders, wondered if he signed his Under Armour contract when he was still in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens from 2004-05.

Shelomi Sanders, the Alabama A&M Bulldogs guard, asked her mom and father’s ex-wife, Pilar Sanders. “I don’t know,” Pilar told her daughter during Shelomi Sanders' latest YouTube video.

In the video, the two women flew to Baltimore to attend this year’s Dexcom U event. The event hosted by Dexcom, a company that produces glucose monitors for individuals with diabetes, such as Shelomi Sanders, is intended to empower people with the illness through having college athletes represent the brand as ambassadors.

Furthermore, Shelomi Sanders showed love to her father by wearing his Air Diamond Turf signature shoes since he re-signed with Nike in 2023 due to Colorado’s endorsement deal with the company. Coach Prime also gifted his daughter multiple pairs of the Air Diamond Turf shoes on June 2.
