The Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida State Seminoles open the 2025 season against each other in Tallahassee, and things are continuing to heat up.
Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos got things started by taunting Alabama in June, stating that the Crimson Tide no longer had Nick Saban to save them.
On Wednesday at ACC Media Days, Castellanos was asked if he would have said some things differently about Alabama in hindsight. However, he was firm in his stance, standing by what he had said.
The stance is interesting from the Florida State gunslinger, considering he appeared to backtrack the comments when at a workout with Alabama receiver Isaiah Horton.
"Most definitely, but we stand on what I said," Castellanos said. "So, I said what I said, and we stand on that. I don't mean no disrespect to none of those guys at Alabama or anything like that. It's just I have confidence in my guys and the work that we've been putting in, and preparing, and the preparation we've been ya know putting together. That's all that was. No disrespect to those guys, but we stand on what I said."
The comments caught the attention of Alabama Heisman winner Mark Ingram II (2009), who thanked Castellanos for giving the Crimson extra motivation.
Castellanos is in his first year with a new team, having transferred from the Boston College Eagles. The Seminoles are fresh off their worst season under head coach Mike Norvell after a 2-10 finish in 2024.
Alabama will also have a new quarterback under center, in Ty Simpson, who has been the backup for the last three seasons.
The much-anticipated showdown is set for August 30, with a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC.
