Hull Kingston Rovers will play Brisbane Broncos at the MKM Stadium on 19 February.
As Hull Kingston Rovers prepare to take part in the rugby league World Club Challenge, BBC Radio Humberside is looking for fans to help launch the event.
The match between the Robins and Brisbane Broncos will be played on 19 February at the MKM Stadium - the home of local rivals Hull FC.
The radio station is looking for a number of fans to carry a special ball in a relay from the east of the city to the west, between the two Hull clubs' stadiums.
Maggie Curtis, executive producer for BBC Radio Humberside, said: "The relay is set to be a unique celebration of the sport and the people who live and breathe it."
She added: "Rugby League isn't just a sport in Hull - it's a way of life.
"We want to hear from supporters whose love for their club has taken them on their own unforgettable journeys, the highs and the lows."
A number of surprise guests, from former players to important figures from the city, will take part in what has been dubbed the World Club Relay.
A decision not to hold the the clash between the Super League and Australian NRL champions at Craven Park was made because of "capacity reasons".
The MKM Stadium, home to football club Hull City as well as Hull FC, can officially hold 25,586 fans - more than double the 11,000 capacity of Craven Park.
Elliot Minchella, captain of Hull Kingston Rovers, said: "It's a really exciting time for us. It's great that the World Club Challenge is in Hull and we're looking forward to playing to a sell-out crowd.
"It's the first time this club has played in the competition. We have a responsibility to represent our country and Super League and it's something we're proud to be a part of."
Those wanting to be involved in the World Club Relay are being asked to email BBC Radio Humberside with their name, contact details and short message about why they want a place.
Nominations will close on Friday 23 January at 19:00 GMT.
