Maurizio Sarri admits it was ‘not easy’ to beat Hellas Verona away and hopes Lazio will sign ‘two or three players’ in the summer to make a further step forward.
The Biancocelesti secured a 1-0 win at the Bentegodi on Sunday to remain in touch with a European placement in the Serie A table.

Lazio have been very busy in the January window, selling Valentin Castellanos and Matteo Guendouzi and signing Petar Ratkov and Kenneth Taylor. The latter had only trained once with his new team prior to the game, but still started in central midfield.
“I don’t know if you saw Lazio’s Curva. To make these people happy means a lot,” Sarri told Sky Sport via Lalaziosiamonoi.
“It probably meant more to Verona than to us, but we played a good game. Unfortunately, we still struggle to turn the volume of play we produce into actual goal-scoring opportunities. Today it went well. We kept possession while they tried to score on the counter, something they do well. It wasn’t easy.”

Sarri also shared his thoughts on Lazio’s new signings: “Given his skill sets and experience, Taylor might be quicker. Petar comes from different experiences; he’s a bit younger and might struggle a bit more. I hope not, but it’s something we must consider.
“It’s been a tough season from the very start amid the transfer embargo and injuries,” he concluded.
“We are trying to create the base so that the club can add two or three players in the summer to make a step forward. That’s the only target we have this season, and the club agrees with it.”
